Frequently
Asked Questions - Please read before emailing:
- What are
the details of the product itself?
The
deck plans are 1200dpi full-colour laser printed on 11inch x 17inch, 60lb
stock - unfolded.
Please note that the
extra wide sheets you see on the ship products pages (side view of Intrepid
for instance), are two 11x17 sheets which overlap.
- How
long does it take to recieve the deck plans once I've ordered them?
Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. (It's
very rare that it even takes 4 weeks.)
All orders are processed as they are received and shipped via air mail
in a bubble pack with cardboard to avoid bending and damage to the product.
Canada Post has unfortunately recently increased their rates (as of Jan.
14, 2008) to our disappointment.
The shipping charge covers both the shipping itself
as well as the cost of packaging.
- The prices
seem a bit high, why is that?
The
deck plans are "print on demand" - they are printed
as the orders come in, so the cost to print them requires
that they may be higher than you might be used to. We've tried our best
to keep them affordable.
- Why
is my favourite ship's deck plans not ready to buy yet?
The bulk of the work for
the ships that have small sample images on their pages has been completed.
We're proofreading the ships, for such things like consistancy of equipment
and concepts for ships of the same era, etc. Because of the amount of detail,
this can take time. They'll all get done, don't worry!
- Can I pre-place
an order for ships that aren't released yet?
Sorry, no. We don't want
to end up with a backlog of orders and risk losing them. We're trying to keep
things simple for now.
- Your layouts
don't match what I always thought the floorplans for my favourite ship should
be.
We started with the actual set plans and as many photos and other reference
material we could find. As well as having to make sure that windows matched
up to rooms, and turbolifts and jefferies tubes all had to line up, we put
everything together in a way we think works.
- Can I purchase
an electronic document version of a set of plans - like a .pdf?
Sorry, but all electronic
versions are proprietary (means 'no').
- In episode
X of series Y said that location Z was on deck so-and-so. Why isn't it there
in the deck plans?
Most of the locations for
various rooms (torpedo room, bridge, etc), are pretty self explanatory for
most ships. If the location of something was given a specific deck consistantly
in a series, we've done our best to accomodate, but a lot of the times, a
random deck was given in the script without preplanning if the room would
or could really be there. That, by the way, is a run-on sentence.
- When are
you doing Sovereign?
We've
got them partially completed, but due to the size and resultant printing
costs, the purchase price would be pretty high. We'll give an update on
Sovereign after the other ships are released.
